Empowering Through Sports
Using sports as a tool for Education, Health, and Social Development in Tanzania
About Us
At SDA sport becomes a pathway to education, health, and social change.
Sports Development Aid (SDA) is a Tanzanian civil society organization committed to supporting youth through education and sports. Our inclusive Sports for All approach champions human rights and promotes equality, regardless of gender, age, or disability. We implement development projects aimed at improving the quality of physical and health education while expanding equal access to learning — a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of sustainable development. Our vision is to help shape a new generation of selfconfident, educated, and physically active citizens in Tanzania.

What We Do →
Using Sports and Physical Education to Promote Learning, Health, and Human Rights
Sports Development Aid (SDA) has made significant strides in transforming lives and communities across Tanzania, particularly in the regions of Lindi, Mtwara, and Singida. Below is a detailed breakdown of their impact across key areas
Sports for Education & Life Skills
We believe sport is a powerful tool to help keep children in school.Physical education not only improves health and motor skills but also boosts school attendance by making learning more enjoyable and engaging.Through playful, inclusive activities, children gain essential life skills and develop a stronger appreciation for education. Our work shows that when education and sport go hand in hand, children are more likely to thrive in life
Supporting Schools and Teachers
We support primary and secondary schools, teachers’ training colleges, and universities by improving Physical and Health Education curriculum and training sports teachers. We also help integrate Physical Education into school systems by providing sports equipment, training resources, and by building and maintaining school sports fields.
Community Engagement & Awareness
Through public sports events in rural villages, we promote education, human rights, and healthy lifestyles. These events offer fun ways to raise awareness and share essential health information with communities.

Partnerships
Supporting Pillars of SDA
Since its establishment in 2002, SDA has implemented numerous regional and national development projects in close collaboration with ministries, educational authorities, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local governments. At the heart of our work is a strong partnership with Liike Finland, whose support has been instrumental in advancing our mission. Alongside Liike Finland, we also collaborate with local organizations, schools, and communities across Tanzania to build inclusive, sustainable systems where sport and education empower every child.
